Apple seeks to take multitouch where it’s never been before in new patent app
The keyboard is the ugly thorn in the side of touchscreens. As yet, there is still no better input device, but it’s a dated and cumbersome thing - unloved by the minimalist wave of design the touchscreen seems to demand. There must be a neater way, is the thinking. The frustration has boiled over into arrogance, and devices like the iPhone have shown that compromise is acceptable, but can this evolve into a true successor to the keyboard? It’s a fascinating space to watch.
